Copenhagen

Day 1 (28 June 2017)

First Hotel Mayfair

Meatpacking district

First meal of our trip @ Kødbyens Fiskebar. Amazing food. Also had our first taste of how expensive things are going to be for this trip. About 460DKK (AUD$100) for 2 mains and 1 side, excluding drinks and tips. And I was still hungry afterwards...

Complimentary bread.

Trout. Smoked and poached, beach cress, green peas and chanterelles.

Hake. Delicate, juicy meat seared.

New potatoes. Lovage and butter.

Day 2 (29 June 2017)

Rain predicted for the whole duration of our time in Copenhagen. Since today was the least rainiest day, we tried to visit all the main attractions.

Copenhagen city hall

Hans Christian Andersen staring out at the tivoli

The streets

Round tower

View from top of the round tower

DØP hotdog stand located conveniently near the Round Tower. Of course we must try a traditional danish hotdog. We shared the classic roasted hotdog. Probably one of the best hotdogs we had.

We grabbed a couple of sweets from Holms Bager. The biscuit is so so good!

Royal library

Duck house. Where are the ducks?

Rosenborg castle and my dream garden.

Botanical Gardens

The little mermaid

Craziness surrounding the mermaid!

Meanwhile, I was more interested at the view on the other side of the harbour.

Dinner at PapirØen. Apparently, they are closing this down at the end of the year.

Went for this because the stall has the longest queue. Long queue means it's good, right? (Nope)

Got this despite that there was no queue.

Day 3 (30 June 2017)

Happy birthday to me! We decided to take it easy today since we have already done most of the attractions yesterday. Plus my left feet was killing me. I got a blister on one of my toes the size of a giant grape. (Yes mum, I was wearing good walking shoes and not one of my fancy ballet flats.)

Nyhavn

Canal tour

Christiansborg palace

View from the Christiansborg palace tower

Birthday lunch at Royal Smushi Cafe.

I have been really looking forward to this! Just look at my excited face! :D

Smoked salmon with cream cheese mousse, cloud of dill, grated lemon and beetroot
White asparagus and shrimps, homemade hollandaise mayonnaise, and green asparagus crudite

Potatoes. New danish potatoes served with homemade ramsons-mayonnaise and fresh radish.
Krebinet with cream peas and carrots

Fiskefrikadeller (danish meetballs made of fish) with salmon, pickled fennel salad and homemade remoulade
Biksemad, fried potatoes, beef, beetroot and a fried sunny side up quail egg

And cake. Of course.

Went shopping for the rest of the afternoon. And then dinner at Frk. Barners Kælder.

Danish Hamburg steak with fried egg

Butter-fried plaice from the North Sea

Day 4 (1 July 2017)

Torvehallerne. Wish we didn't ate so much for breakfast because there are so many tempting treats in this market.

Lunch at Aamanns. Love this place. The smørrebrød are amazing!

Dinner at Tivoli Hallen for traditional danish food.

And the sun finally came out. But it was time for us to move on to our next destination.
