Our hotel in Alesund is pretty special. Hotel Brosundet (previously Clarion Collection Hotel Bryygen) used to be a packhouse for dried and salted cod. The hotel is beautifully converted and definitely one of our most memorable stays. An iconic building too, as you can see it from the top of Aksla, the striking yellow building in the centre of the town.
Dinner from last night at Anno.
Creamed mussels.
Tagliatelle with fish and shellfish in white wine sauce.
Ovenbaked dried salted cod with chorizo risotto.
Morning tea to fuel us up for our climb later. Skoleboller. Sweet bread with custard and icing with desiccated coconut. Something I wanted to try for ages.
The climb to Aksla Viewpoint begins. 471 steps.
You can see the rain coming.
The view that we came for. And what a view.
Lunch at Fijellstua which sits on top of the Aksla mountain.
Fish soup.
Seafood salad.
Spend the rest of the day exploring Alesund and visiting museums.
Yup. A little too excited to see the word "fart". Totally mature.
Dinner at Lyspunktet.
Fish soup. Again.
Hamburger.
