Helsinki - Part 4 (Porvoo)

Day 17 (14 July 2017)

Day trip to Porvoo, about 55km from Helsinki. We got there by public bus which took only an hour.

We followed the route shown on the old porvoo walking tour map.

The iconic riverside red wooden warehouses that we came for.

Other side of the bridge is the new porvoo.

Peonies!

Morning tea at Cafe Fanny for the traditional runeberg cake. The other reason we were here. It's meh.

Ice cream. Always room for ice cream especially on a nice sunny day.

High on sugar, we continue our walking tour.

Venture out of old porvoo to check out some old train station and nearby forest.

Back in old porvoo for lunch at Restaurant Fryysarinranta.

Grilled pork loin and veal pistachio sausage, mustard baked egg

 Smoked salmon and cauliflower crème

Runeberg’s torte the Fryysari way, raspberry sherbet. I like this version better. Way better.

More wandering around after lunch. Super cute porvoo Cathedral. There is something about this cathedral that makes us giggle with no disrespect.

Inside the cathedral is really pretty.

Wooden buildings. So cute.

A couple more photos of the red warehouses.

Back to Helsink. Love that they allow pets on public buses and trains.

Dinner at Bystron. Not sure what to expect because we never had Russian food before. It's actually quite nice.

Goodbye Helsinki. It's sad to leave. We will be back.
